UCAS Progress is an online prospectus identifying a wide range of post 16 learning providers. It enables students to gain instant access to information about the range of courses and opportunities available for students to continue onto further education at College or Sixth Form, as well as access to apprenticeships and other training opportunities.
Students at Smithills School also use UCAS Progress to submit their Post 16 applications.
During the summer term 2016 students were shown how to access and search for courses of interest. They have also completed parts of their personal profile in readiness for making applications starting in October 2016.
Year 11 students should now have completed their Work history and personal information sections of their profile and updated their contact details. These details are securely stored and only accessible to students using their unique logins and passwords.
Additional support to complete their QUALIFICATIONS section and their PERSONAL STATEMENT will be provided through assembly time. Resources to remind students how to search and apply are available on the Year 11 information page of the school website.
UCAS Applications: Once the profiles are complete students can start to submit applications (from October 2016) but will need to have selected and saved the courses they wish to apply for into their FAVOURITES. Students are advised to visits open evening for all the establishments with whom they have an interest in studying with at the end of year 11. Dates of all open evenings are also available on the Year 11 information page.
Please note: Students should seek advice BEFORE submitting their applications. Support is available from CAREERS in Lower School (formerly L2).
